Oldest house in Quebec. You'll feel like you time travelled with the decor, low ceilings (watch your head!), & food like your ancestors cooked. Felt like home eating cooking with veg that wasn't over seasoned, simple dishes like bison meat bourginignon (sp?) & maple pie (59 -year-old recipe. The service was outstanding. Go upstairs for a museum of tools & devices hundreds of years old. Again, watch your head.

Will not recommend. Highly overrated. The food had no flavor whatsoever. Our tour guide recommended it, but visiting the restaurant was a mistake never to be repeated. Staff was quite rude too. Please go somewhere else while in Quebec. There are other options.

Dined here 40 years ago on our honeymoon, & thoroughly enjoyed being back. Our waiter was superb, & informed us the chef is the same - in his 42nd year! My husband loved the escargot & his beef wellington. The vegetarian option (mushroom tofu stew) was average, but worth the tourist adventure to dine in the oldest building in North America!

Food felt a little under seasoned for my taste however I can absolutely appreciate the strong sense of tradition in this establishment. This to me made the experience worth it & I really enjoyed the atmosphere & that it felt like you were eating in little red riding hoods home. I am happy to have checked this place out & everyone was so nice.

I guess this is traditional Quebecois cuisine. It was my favorite meal of a few days in Quebec City -- gamey, heavy, saucy, fruity. Nothing light. The atmosphere is quaint, like eating in an old boarding house or inn.
