The beef tenderloin was delectable with the mustard gravey. Vegetables were fresh & crisp. Loved the maple syrup pie (like a butter tart), very sweet but went well with a black tea.
A fantastic spot for traditional québeqoise food. In one of the old city's oldest houses (1670), the atmosphere can't be beat.
The service is amazing here! Super friendly staff & something about eat in a 17th century home just sets the mood right!
The food however, is indescribable. My wife & I got the Grandmas special & the pork tenderloin, & we had to pause while we ate, just to take in how amazing the food was! I don't know how they make the Tenderloin mustard sauce & the meatball ragout sauce, but there must be pounds of magic because we were STUNNED with how good the flavor was. We ate it so fast I couldn't take a photo!
Please come here & order the tenderloin & Grandma's plate. It is flavours & dishes everyone must try!
So glad to have eaten at this historic place & experienced the multigenerational food from & inspection of cultures & time. Our waiter was fantastic.
Atmosphere is charming & rustic.
Food is overpriced & less than average.
The seafood platter was entirely disappointing & one of the most expensive items on the menu at $75. You would think it be excellent. But nope.
The goat cheese salad was alright, but again, not worth $45.
All in all, after years of walking past this place, hoping to get a table (reservations always required), we are happy to never come back here.
Such a disappointing experience. Prices are exorbitant for what is served, both in quality & presentation. If the food had tasted good, we wouldn't have minded paying for quality, but charging 40-50 dollars for a dish that is luke warm, tastes bland & is clearly reheated is a rip off. The veggies are clearly from a frozen bag. There are so many other great restaurants around that are priced much better & quality is far superior. Don't waste your time here.
On the plus side, The staff was friendly.
I had the meat pie with deer, bison, elk, & beef, & my girlfriend had the hunter chicken. Both dishes were dry, overcooked, & clearly reheated. Everything came out lukewarm & the vegetables tasted like they were previously frozen. For the price they charge, it was very disappointing & not worth it. The menu prices are very high even if the food was executed perfectly much higher then the neighboring restaurants.
We had a lovely lunch here on a snowy day at a charming table by the fireplace. The wait staff was extremely friendly & helpful in making the best choice for a meal. We had several dishes we'd never tasted before & they were delicious. You
