We went here for dinner on our first night in Old Quebec. It has a wonderful pub atmosphere. However, both food & service were lacking. We were the only table yet we had to get the waiter, who was lounging at the bar, to get salt & pepper for the under-seasoned (& over-priced) seafood chowder. The poutine was'ok' but nothing special. We never got our water as requested & had to flag down the waiter a second time to get the bill. Ok to visit for a drink, but we won't eat there again.
Came across this very rad establishment twice on my journey through Quebec City.
Once during the day, once at night. The owner Phil was amazing with his culinary skills & knowledge. The nightlife band was superb as well. Atmosphere, menu, drink selections are all worth sampling.
Small cozy spot in a very historic building. Stone walls & hand-hewn timbers. Our cheese plate was great & drinks were excellent.
Solid cheese board with fresh bread, but I must say the star of the show were the drinks. The cocktails were beautifully mixed, strong, & a wide variety of interesting flavours was available. Highly recommended for anyone bar hopping or wanting a nice, cosy place to drink & chat.
Cute little place, only if you're interested in drinking. Do not eat here unless you're drunk. We had the fish & chips & the bavette & frites. Two different orders & both fries dishes were extremely over salted. The fish & dough weren't fully cooked (dough was still raw), & the bavette was probably cooked in the microwave. For the same cost, go eat at Le Lapin Saute & you'll have an elevated experience.
A very cool restaurant in a great location. The menu is simple, with just the right number of options - & everything we tried was delicious.
We had the French onion soup, the smoked meat sandwich, & a salad. All were excellent.
Big thanks to Vincent, who helped us choose our food & drinks since the menu is only in French. His recommendations were spot on!
Came during the winter which was so cozy & Such a cool vibe! The music was also incredible. We just came here for drinks which were amazing. The food looked incredible & smelt even better. Will recommend this place to anyone visiting in the future.
The food was delicious. I ordered the La Papale with the recommended cheeses. My partner ordered the lobster roll. We each had a Sidecar drink. I think my dish was the favorite. Great attention to detail, with the chef taking pride in his work. We polished it all off with minimal effort. The lobster roll was flavorful, with chunky lobster bites, & done in what they called a traditional Quebec style. It was a cozy space with plentiful outdoor seating as well. We dined inside due to weather, & were treated to watching the chef prepare our food just behind the counter. It was a fun show, & really helped demonstrate his love for the craft. Needs improvement: the Sidecar left a lot to be desired. Too sweet & unbalanced for what I expect in a Sidecar. I think next time I'd pass on a cocktail, in favor of wine or beer. Definitely a place worth checking out.
