My experience dining at this restaurant was mixed, & perhaps my expectations were a bit higher given the setting. I had breakfast twice & dinner during my stay at the hotel.
The first breakfast was YOGOURT & GRANOLA MAISON, a large bowl of whipped yogurt topped with homemade granola & fruits, all drenched in maple syrup. While I love maple syrup, I found the amount overwhelming, & it overshadowed the other flavors. The portion size was also quite large, & I wasn't able to finish it. We were also served toasted bannock slices, but unfortunately, they were overcooked & too hard to chew.
The second breakfast, BOL DE L'AMITIÉ VEGAN with oat milk, chia seeds, & oatmeal was much more to my liking, likely because I specifically requested a lighter hand with the maple syrup.
For dinner, I ordered a glass of Hee-Hee-Tel-Kin red wine from BC. However, I was taken aback when the person pouring the wine casually remarked that I had made a poor choice since the wine was better suited to red meat dishes, not vegetables. Additionally, I found the $20 charge for a small glass of wine to be overpriced, especially when a full bottle costs less than $30. The wine also had bubbles in it, which may indicate it's gone off. Unfortunately, it led to an upset stomach later in the evening.
The dinner menu was different than what's shown on the restaurant's website. The appetizer, a mushroom dish with a small portion of blueberries, was an interesting combination & enjoyable, but the main course was a letdown. A blend of white beans, cheese, & cabbage simply didn't complement each other.
The most disappointing part of the evening was the birthday celebration I had planned & mentioned upon arrival, which was completely overlooked. When our server finally brought out the dessert, I had to remind her of the note I had left earlier. At that point, it was clear that the surprise had been lost, & the moment was no longer special.
Bannock bread is amazing, out of this world. It's worth going just for the bread hahaha! Food is very different, but good. We arrived for lunch but the kitchen was closed for mains & we had to order platters (it closed at 2:30). Tried the fish platter & the signature platter, both were very good. I loved the bread & salmon jerky. Very unique & tasteful selection of toppings (the sauces served on the side). Good service, very kind waiters that offer you a more private experience by not hanging around the table as much & sort of going about their own thing. They will come quickly when you call, though, & are always at your disposition! The place has a wonderful atmosphere with many beautiful paintings & well-made taxidermies. Loved the bison & the moose; both are impressive! The view from the window side tables is marvellous too. Wide range of seating options, clean bathrooms, & nice music (very quiet & out of your way, allows for conversation). In conclusion, a solid restaurant!

We got the 5 course meal. Every dish was exquisitely prepared, we did not leave one crumb behind. The sommelier had wonderful suggestions, we tried an indigenous Canadian red that complemented the elk perfectly. Everything was expertly timed & very professional. We would eat here every day if we could!
