No clue why this place has a 4.3-star rating. It must be from tourists who don't know any better. The coffee is made from Nespresso pods & tastes like watered-down milk. The pastries are stale, & you'd honestly be better off buying something from a grocery store.
To make matters worse, they got my order wrong twice in a row. This was a serious allergy concern, yet my concerns were brushed off. The staff either aren't trained on what each pastry is or can't read the labels they put on the display.
I ordered the Croc Framboise (raspberry) but was given an apple one, even though there wasn't even a label indicating apple. On the third attempt, the staff had to cut the pastry open just to confirm it was actually raspberry.
The other photo shows a canelé that was labeled as a madeleine, which pretty much sums up the attention to detail here…
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you have food allergies or expect staff to know what they're serving.
This wonderful stop for pasties & coffee is very easy to access & offers ample seating for small & large groups alike. The staff is wonderfully friendly & their offerings delicious & fresh! Highly recommended during your visit to Quèbec!
The lower old town location was very close to our Airbnb & they became our breakfast & dessert standard! Pastries were delicious & fresh. Staff was helpful. Highly recommend the ham, cheese & egg croissant! Sweet pastries, especially with fresh berries were also a favorite for us. Came back from Ile d'Orleans one day with fresh cheese & decided to just make cheese, baguettes & wine our dinner, so we headed straight to Paillard, but they were closed so got our baguettes next door at the cafe just below Paillard (in case you need a back up!).
Our hotel concierge recommended Paillard to us.
We loved it & ended up going a few times during our visit. We tried their chocolate Suisse, chocolate braid, praline rolls, focaccia bread, macarons, butter croissant, chocolate croissant & coffee.
Everything except the coffee was yummy. I'd hop over to Smith Mason down the lane for coffee instead. But other than that, we loved everything. All their baked goods were freshly made.
Lovely range of baked goods, great quality & lovely coffee too. Would definitely recommend.
I had breakfast at Paillard , a few times & the experience was excellent. Their croissants & macarons are a must-try! The food quality remains consistently great no matter how crowded the café gets. The staff were very friendly & helpful in guiding me through the menu, even though I don't speak French. Highly recommended for breakfast & pastries!
I was in Quebec City for a couple of days & visited this beautiful café a few times during my stay. The food was delicious, & I really enjoyed eating here. Their Croissant Matin breakfast combo was amazing, & they have a great variety of baked goods. The macarons & croissants are definitely worth trying! Even when the café was very busy, the food quality & consistency remained excellent. The staff were friendly, efficient, & welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Quebec City *****
Très bon choix de viennoiseries pour déjeuner.
Je recommande la brioche à l'orange.
Cappuccino excellent & service très agréable.
Pretty expensive for a sandwich. The taste was pretty good. I recommend it but the price is a little bit high
