It has a wonderful pub atmosphere. However, both food & service were lacking. We were the only table yet we had to get the waiter, who was lounging at the bar, to get salt & pepper for the under-seasoned (& over-priced) seafood chowder. The poutine was'ok' but nothing special. We never got our water as requested & had to flag down the waiter a second time to get the bill. Ok to visit for a drink, but we won't eat there again.
This has been some of the best food in old Quebec, the service is amazing, super fast with the food, & the atmosphere is amazing with nice paintings, wooden barrels & live music, & the best thing here is the food, everything from the bread to the poutine
I'm so glad we made it here. First of all, they have a prime location. & live music! Typically a duo performing. We came to try their poutine & wow they do not disappoint. One-of-kind brown sauce (veal, bbq, red wine etc). All sourced from Quebec! Phil is the best. This is a must-try
less reviews than other restaurants in the area but makes up for it in surprisingly delicious food. seafood chowder was very flavorful & best i ever had. Poutine with smoked meat was better than La Banquise, the brown sauce was tastier & cheese was softer. pricing is much higher as it's in a tourist location. very few seats. they double charged us for a pint of beer (didn't realize it until its too late) 1 less star for that.
Delicious introduction to our first night in QC! Tried the smoked meat sandwich, classic poutine, & the red pepper soup. All were warm & comforting as we settled into the cold. Loved the old & historic nature of the cozy pub - & happily enjoyed a glass of wine where it was the first wine bar to serve wine by the glass in the province!

It's actually a dive bar in a nice location. The fondue was good, poutine was mediocre. The staff was nice but didn't seem to have things prepared or ready. We came for lunch on a saturday. No beer sausage available. We made reservations, but definitely didn't need them since there was only 1 other table occupied. Good place for a beer, drinks or a quick bite.
